Starship Enterprise

The new museum looks a bit like a contorted hourglass-or a twisting torso isolated for close scrutiny, as in a drawing by michelangelo, the rest of the body nowhere to be seen.
Mexico City, over the last decade and a half, has been the anti-Bilbao. The Mexican capital sidestepped most of the major trends that transformed the art and architecture worlds following the 1997 opening of Frank Gehry’s branch of the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, including the rise of the iconic art museum and the spread of photogenic buildings by globetrotting celebrity architects.

+Lionsgate four Hunger Games movies

+Lionsgate four Hunger Games movies. If 'The Hunger Games' gets made into four movies, how should they divide it up?
Ka-thunk! That’s the sound of Hollywood’s axe falling on yet another film and splitting it into two separate but equally lucrative parts. Lionsgate has yet to comment on the rumors that the studio is planning on making four movies out the three novels in Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games series, but if they do end up going for a tetralogy, it would hardly be surprising. It seems you can’t be a blockbuster franchise these days if you’re not being halved and halved into a cinematic version of Zeno’s paradox. Two Harry Potter 7’s, two Breaking Dawns, two Hobbits (Hobbitses?) — we’re probably only a few years away from a three minute-long Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Part 1: Volume 2: Act I: Some Scene in a Cave.

Marion Cunningham (Marion Ross) on “Happy Days” was always there with a wholesome snack and even more wholesome advice. “Mrs. C” was the only one allowed to call Fonzie by his real first name. Broadcast during a time of great change for women, the show was a reminder that the traditional role was also of great value and worthy of respect. Clair Huxtable (Phylicia RashÄd) on “The Cosby Show” was the elegant and almost always unflappable successful attorney and mother of five, as bemused by her husband (far from unflappable) as by her children. Carol Brady (Florence Henderson) on “The Brady Bunch” always seemed as sweetly unaware of the show’s cheesiness as she was of the possible problems that arise in blended families. She managed to cope with six children even through such catastrophes as a visit from Davy Jones and Jan’s weird wig.Margaret Anderson (Jane Wyatt) on “Father Knows Best” was the quintessential 1950′s ideal of a mother and homemaker, always loving and supportive of her family. Often, she was the one who really knew best.

No doubt these thoughts have gone through your mind when you've stood in front of the mirror: Am I dressing like my mother? Do I look like I'm wearing my daughter's clothes? Am I dressing age appropriately? Am I making the most of my looks? Perhaps your frock is in an eye-popping color or print, skims the body, plunges low in front or back, or shows too much skin. Maybe it doesn't show enough skin and adds years. And with all the boundary breaking in fashion today, it is not always clear who should wear what.First and foremost, style is about inner confidence. If you are 50 and dare to wear a mini, more power to you. (However, be prepared for heads to turn and eyebrows to raise if you don't get it right.) If you tend to err on the safe side but still like to be in the fashion game, there are plenty of interesting and chic options out there for you, no matter what your age. From "anything goes" in your 20s to toned-down hues and sculpted cuts in your 40s to luxe fabrics in your 70s, find out what's best for you and you'll always look and feel poised in your clothes.

The winning whiskers on the Central Coast were named during the 52nd Annual Beard-A-Reno on Saturday night at the Santa Maria Elks Lodge.
More than 30 contestants competed for bragging rights — and a custom-made silver belt buckle — at the event.
Honors were given for wildest, blackest, reddest, longest and whitest beards, along with most original and best mustache, goatee, sideburns, attempt, western characterization and all around. Miss Wrangler also was named.
Since February, contestants have foregone their razors in the attempt to grow the top entries.
This year’s event was held in memory of Ted Scott, the longtime Elks historian who died in December.
The Beard-A-Reno is one of the events leading up to the annual Santa Maria Elks Rodeo, set for June 2 through 5. The rodeo parade is planned for Saturday morning, June 4.

X-Factor judge Dannii Minogue quits show 'because she can't fit it into her schedule'

X-Factor judge Dannii Minogue quits show 'because she can't fit it into her schedule'
X-Factor judge Dannii Minogue has left the show because she could not squeeze it into her busy schedule.
The 39-year-old singer has parted company with the popular ITV talent contest days before the new series was due to launch.
She posted a link through Twitter to a website which she is a contributing editor to, confirming the news.
The Australian was quoted as saying: 'I am so disappointed that I can't be a part of The X-Factor this year.
'I'm going to miss the show and the amazing team who work so incredibly hard on it.'
X-Factor judges Cheryl Cole and Simon Cowell have already quit to take part in the U.S. version of the show - although Cowell will be a huge presence behind the scenes in the UK - and Take That's Gary Barlow has been lined up as a replacement.
Kylie's sister began filming the fifth series of Australia's Got Talent at the start of the year and is scheduled to return in a couple of weeks to continue with the semi and grand finals.
She added: 'During discussions for me to return [to The X-Factor] it became clear that unfortunately, this year, the X Factor audition dates in the UK clash with the live shows of Australia's Got Talent during June and July.
'For this reason I am unable to return. I want to wish the new judges every success for this year's show, and can't wait to see who the British public choose as their next big star.
'Thanks to everyone who has shown me so much love and support, and brought me so much joy during my four incredible years working on the show.'
Dannii started on the X Factor in 2007 but revealed in her autobiography last year that she was made to feel undermined by former judge Sharon Osbourne who resente3d her being there.
Tulisa Contostavlos, from the band N-Dubz, has been in talks with X-Factor bosses to fill one of the vacant seats on the panel, according to a source close to the show.
The move is not connected with Minogue's departure however, the source stressed.
He said: 'Everyone on the show has met her, and they loved her. She's the real deal. She's not a reality TV creation, she's created herself.'
The singer from north London also fits 'the right age demographic', he added.
